• The Center for a Stateless Society has reprinted an interview with Karl Hess from a 1976 edition of Mother Earth News in which he describes his transition from Republican speechwriter to homesteading tax resister.
• Authorities in Ireland have prohibited water tax protesters there from raising funds door-to-door — denying them a permit on the grounds that “the money may be used for the ‘commission of an unlawful act.’ ”

Indian Income Tax.

At the great Bombay Cocoanut Fair, the cloth merchants attempted a demonstration against the income tax, refusing to open their shops till the tax was abolished. The Parsees, however, would not second the Mahometan merchants, and the affair came to nothing.
