A brief news dispatch from :
Payment of Taxes Resisted.
Athens, . — Sey Fullah Pasha, with 2,000 soldiers and two guns, recently went to the village of Lazarina, near Trikhalat [Trikala] to enforce the payment of taxes. The peasants met the troops and an engagement ensued. Next day the attack was renewed with results not yet known here.
I’ve seen this same dispatch repeated nearly verbatim (sometimes it is “Seyfullah Pasha” or “Pacha” with the soldiers and the guns) in a couple of other places, but nothing that expands on what was going on or how it turned out.
