America On-Line, for years recognized as the enabler of some of the internet's most curious amateur content providers, now brings us the "Anti-Sodomy Page."

Stephen A. Meigs strongly suspects that sodomy is a chemical addiction to certain chemicals in semen (prostaglandins) - which transforms the anti-sodomy argument I suppose into something a bit like the authoritarian-liberal anti-drug argument (treat drug use as a medical problem, not a moral one).

Stephen A. Meigs expands on his strong suspicions for about 20,000 words in his on-line excerpt from his upcoming book Exact Morality for Today. A quick look shows that his speculations include:

• The practice of sodomy is perpetuated by people who developed an addiction by absorbing chemicals found in semen into their digestive tracts during (frequently repressed) episodes of childhood abuse.
• Natural anti-sodomy measures have evolved to protect us from this inclination towards addiction, including the placement of the clitoris opposite the vagina from the anus, the location of the "G-Spot," and the fact that our species walks upright.
• Those who are sodomized become through their addiction dependent on their sodomizer, and to this may be traced many of society's other evils (domestic violence, abortion, etc.)
• Combine these two, and you see that when humans began to walk upright, thus not presenting the posterior to penetration as readily, fewer women were sodomized, women were freed from the tyranny of their pusher/sodomizers, and not coïncidentally civilization arose.
• This evolutionary step was nothing compared to the segregation of the digestive and reproductive orifices. Birds, with their cloacæ, are never spared from addiction.
