Two Critiques of Nonviolence

I’m no satyagrahi, but I’m very much interested in the theory and practice, and the promise, of nonviolent resistance, of which tax resistance is one tactic. But today I’ll mention that there’s another opinion, which is that the accomplishments of nonviolent activists such as Gandhi and King have been exaggerated, and that to dogmatically insist on nonviolence is irrational and unnecessarily limits your chances of success.

Today, the Alternative Press Review covers this point of view in essays by William Meyers (Nonviolence and Its Violent Consequences) and Craig Rosebraugh (On Political Violence).
