The Golden Dagon — The Golden Dagon; or, Up and Down the Irrawaddi, a travel book, published around the time The Hasheesh Eater was being written, that was full of the sort of vivid anecdotes of the far east that Ludlow would feast on to provide scenery for his own visions. As it turns out, the book, which was released anonymously, was written by Dr. John Williamson Palmer, who contributes the appendix to The Hasheesh Eater.
